I am trying to find a quality number plate surround to fit my plates without drilling and screwing through them.

I need a surround that will not cover the small line of text at the bottom of the plate as it advertises my website.

Also I would like to use the four fixing points on the rear boot lid to fix this frame but do not have any idea what screw thread type I need?

Any advice?

Winzer Wurth do good quality number plate holders with multiple holes for different screw holes.

Indeed i have wurth number plate holders on my c class.

Try your local dealer, mine gave me a pair of Wurth surrounds.

Spoke to my local main dealers in Nottingham today, they say they have stopped using surround frames and moved over to mounts with stick on plates because the frames obscured their website address on the reg plates.

I prefer those. Did you get some?

Bobby Dazzler, I may end up with Self Adhesive.
I will use theirs if they provide them for advertising purposes? :)

Incidentally I got my new plates made up with website motif by an ebay seller for £20 inc P&P. Delivered exactly 24 hours after they received the order. Quality plates with Merc motif. Pretty damned good if you ask me.

Merc motif ?

MB Birmingham stock Wurth surrounds.

Around £5.00 each.

I bought/fitted one a couple of weeks ago.

Merc motif ?

Yes

Yes Normanh, I saw those and they would have been my choice.
I sent the seller a question and the surround will cover my website motif line as in the image above.

A2 M4 x 15 socket headed button.
If you cut two strips off an old plate and drill the holes in these and fit them over the threaded bosses first it will allow you to stick the rear number plate on.

I have since noticed my friend’s MB are A2 M5 x 16 socket-button-head. I would use stainless as water has a tendency to collect behind these.
Measure the existing bolt heads:-
6.8mm = M4 threaded button head
9.4mm = M5 threaded button head
10.5mm = M6 threaded button head
hope this helps
