Hi

I have a 54 plate CLK 320 cab that has plastic surrounds around the number plates. I have a new set of plates to put on but am not sure how to get the old plates out. Are these a standard fitting or dealer put on? The car originally came from Milton Keynes, might have been a MB owned demo. Looks like there are a couple of slots on either side that might need some sort of tool. Anyone come across this before?

Thanks

My old C320 also came from Milton Keynes and I found that the number plate was held in position with double sided adhesive foam attached to a plastic mount which was then bolted to the boot. Took some prising with a bit of care but the plate eventually came off the plastic mount with no bother.
Not suggesting that yours is the same however, best bet is to put a photo up and wait for a more knowledgeable reply.

Standard equipment, use a flat bladed screw driver in the "slots"and twist, this releases each side, then just pull the sides up or down and a few more clips undo and release the plate from the frame.

HTH

PS Not got the surrounds on my new W212, obviously too easy to pinch the plates, gone back to fixing on with screws. Looked really tacky so had new plates made and used double sided tape to fix them on.

Thanks. I didn't want to break anything but just gave them a harder pull and they came apart. You are right about them being easy to nick so I will use some double sided tape as well.
