Now and again my gearbox THUD'S when changing down a gear, only when going slow and about once every two days or so. Any ideas what this might be Chappies ?. cheers Tony.

Its got full service history but can't tell from that when it was changed. Is it an easy job changing it ??? cheers.

It may not be your box. Check that the prop shaft donuts are good and that there is not excessive play on the shaft.

+1 replaced one 3m ago at 176k miles and big difference.

ok fellas will check doughnut as soon as i can and maybe just change the oil anyway. cheers.

If the thud is only occasional, I would favour a gearbox oil and filter change, there is a HOW TO on the forum somewhere that explains it, also if yours is a 5 speed I would also replace the pilot bush as this can cause leaks and ATF ingress up the loom to the transmission ECU.
