Hi folks,

Today I took out my broken radio and saw 2 cables that I didn't know where they came from.
Maybe somebody could help me out what kind of cable it is (surely not radio related)

Thanks !

hi

one looks like a CD Charger Wire not sure on the other

MSL

the one for the cd changer is laying out of the pic. This one was very short and it goes behind the ashtray.
The other one it's possible that it's the one for the heater control but aren't those electric controled? and not that kind of a cable

Yes, the top plug that you're holding in the pic is almost certainly a CD changer. There's also a bluey-purple thick double cable down there that looks like it used to belong to an amplifier (probably fitted under a seat or in the boot). If it's that it will have 'phono' plugs on the ends of each of its cables, which would have been plugged into the radio at some point.

HTH,

Ian.

That is indeed correct about "bluey-purple thick double" cable - but the cable i'm holding is not the cable for the cd changer, because that one is just not in the picture and I have placed the cd changer myself with all the cables.
I'll take another picture tomorrow with the cable for the cd changer so you could see the difference.

Ofcourse I'm not saying that the previous owner didn't had a cd changer - but when I bought it there wasn't even a stereo in it and neither there were cables in the boot (didn't looked under the seat).

the crash sensors and fuel cut off etc are behind the central console - perhaps connected to your roll bar problem.

Is the car fairly new to you ?

If so have you checked the history ?

the rollbar problem is solved, it was a soleidon on the roll bar itself dat was malfunctioning.
The car itself is now one year and couple months in my property, I bought it from a prosche garage were the previous owner bought another car.
The history is know but none is related with this cable.

here's the pic with the cable for the cd changer and the odd cable

In the last photograph above , the connector on the right is a Sony Unilink bus cable , as used for controlling CD changers and some other devices ; the connector on the left is similar to a DIN type connector and I have seen similar ones used for Power amplifiers of some makes , usually German such as Blaupunkt or Becker which are OEM in Mercedes cars - it could be a remnant of a factory fitment that has been upgraded . There is no connector of this type fitted in that area of a W124 for standard car functions .

If you are not using these connectors yourself , I would just tuck them away out of sight and leave them be .

Thats very calm of you, of course I would rip the car apart until I found the other end :)
