If one of the staff/admin members could move this to projects section would be great!

Hey guys, thought I'd start a bit of a project thread to track what I do with my c280.

So to cut a long story short, I was looking for a mk4 golf, as I missed my old one so much, but after not finding any and looking at some right dogs, I came across a C280 W202 in Milford Haven.

So last Monday I got the train down there, liked it and bought it, for not a lot of money either!

So this was it when I bought it.

It's been sprayed at some point, so has some imperfections, but I'm happy with it overall.

So Tuesday was a nice day, so decided to get on with detailing it. I didn't want to use to much abrasion on the paint as I did't know how the paint was gonna be.

So first up was some snow foam

The a two bucket wash. I used Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II, and was well impressed. So much more suds than Megs NXT.

Also did the wheels

Very impressed so far with the Auto Finesse range.

Just a brush after letting it dwell and job done.

Towel dried the car, which left me with this lot to deal with.

I clayed the car with Auto Finesse lube and 3m clay, and towel dried, which left me with a lot of swirls and hazing to play with.

So I cracked on with some Poorboys SSR3, and a medium pad. I tried the halfords pads as the ones I had ordered hadn't arrived. They are actually OK, which I was impressed with.

So after two passes of SSR3, one pass with Poorboys Professional polish left me with this.

Very happy overall. Just forgot to take some better pics, sorry!

Then moved onto the mats as they were filthy.

I used a steamer to achieve this. It really gets in there and gets out the crap, also seems to life the pile of the mats back up to a nice finish too. Very happy with that.

So today I fitted a replacement grill as the one that was on there was peeling and rusting

Also fitted a proper badge, instead of the flush one. So now looks like this

Obviously my fresh finger/hand prints have been removed lol :)

Also my final update for today. I ordered a set of 18" AMG reps which arrived today. They are 8.5" up front and 9" rears. They need the lips re-polishing which I will try when I'm off next.

Very much looking forward to getting some tyres on them and fitting them :)

Well that's it for now

Next work will be audio related as my speakers are fooked!

What offset are the alloys . I had 18s on my w202 but they were ET31 all round and the fronts sat proud of the wing. :( now I'm running original staggered 17s monoblocks and have no issues at all.

Thanks guys. They are et35, shows online as they should fit so hope so now!!

Audio next mate. The front speakers are shot and I want some more bass.

I have some infinity's for the rear shelf now just gotta sort some components for the front and a sub and amp.

After that probably lower it some more and stainless exhaust. The list is long lol

Forgot to mention, the paint was sealed with auto finesse tough coat, and I used poorboys natty paste wax to finish up.

Very happy with the results :)

Et 35 with an 8inch wheel would just about do, not sure about 8.5inch up front with an ET35, lets hope they sit flush.
got my w202 sitting on a full H&R suspension set up with a 40mm drop all round. when on the 18s the front would rub slightly on full lock and touch the wing lip on compression sometimes too. car is very solid though on the H&R set up.
car looks great by the way keep up the good work

I would mount the alloy on the front before you spend any more money on tires to see if it's going to sit proud. My 8inch et31 sat proud and didn't look right. Even with an et35 which saves you 4mm your wheel is 8.5inch not 8inch.. so it might even stick out further.!!! I tried looking for an 18inch x 7.5inch amg mono and failed that's why I went with the original c43 amg 17 inch staggered set up. These sit perfect now and with my 40mm drop even better..
Hope it works out. Give us a shout if I can help.

Thanks mate thats my plan for monday now :)

any update on the alloys, did they fit..!!!
