Hi there,

Would anyone be aware of a website where I can obtain OEM part numbers for my W124? Not surprisingly, my local Mercedes main dealer refused to give me this information.

Thanks,

D. O'Brien.

They refused? Why? How are you supposed to part with vast amounts of cash if they won't tell you what you need?

A good way to get parts info is on the Daimler Electronic Parts Catalogue. It costs about a tenner a year and provides hours of fun for the family!!!

If you go in and quote a number, when it arrives & turns out to be incorrect they are stuck with the part.

There's several free sources i'm aware of but they aren't foolproof in that they work with a partial VIN (chassis and engine designation codes only) so are fine for some things but won't know about the cars exact spec, sport chassis versus standard for example. Obsolete part numbers sometimes are sometimes included too

Mercedes Benz EPC Type W124 124 Information Everything Benz

and a couple of European parts sources which list origional and some brand specific part numbers Mercedes webcatalog & E-CLASS (W124)

I tend to use them to find an OEM brand specific part number to go shopping for... recently bought some new front damper top mounts, just over £50ea from MB while eurocrapparts only list Q drive tat for ~£30 ea on their site iirc. I bought them from Midland Car Spares aka Autopartstechnik for £28ea delivered, what turned up was dual branded as Lemforder/Boge on the box while the mounts themselves had 2 MB part numbers cast into them (a 124 and 201 prefix) and some poor sod on the production line had been tasked with removing the star logo from infront of each part number with a die grinder...

+1 on what DRUK says.
Worth every penny.
When you go to MB with the part number, quote your VIN, reg No and the name of the part you want. They will check it is correct before you order (or at least Plymouth MB do)

The theory is they hand out the part numbers and people go shopping on the internet, meaning they do all the ground work and get nothing for it.

I appreciate that MB's level of service is lower than it was but I had no idea that it had sunk so low.

Sad.
