Hello All
A friend has e-mailed to ask -where is the oil filter on a C250TD? I am not familiar with this car (and cannot get to have a look at it) Can anyone tell me how best to describe the oil filter location to my friend (who probably has worked on a Mk2 Escort !) He describes the filter he has bought as being quite 'tall but relatively thin'.

Near side, rear of engine near the bulkhead. It is a big plastic domed cap with a nut on the top. You unscrew the cap and the filter element is inside. The new filter should come with 3 new seals.

No offence to your friend but it makes me laugh that people take it on to service their cars and cannot identify where the oil filter is. I presume he knows where the dipstick is?

Many thanks for the info. By the way I entirely agree with what you say about people tackling things beyond their knowledge but you know what it is like when they are advised not to touch something!

it will need a special tool to remove and do not over tighten and the cap top is black

A 36mm socket or spanner? If it does not have the "nut" on top a strap type removal tool will do.
