Oil filter removal tool?

I intend to carry out an oil change on my early '94 C280.
Can anybody please tell me whether I really need to acquire the proper oil filter housing removal tool or whether it can be removed using generic workshop tools?
If I do need the proper tool can anyone suggest a source in the UK or the MB part number for it?
I saw one yesterday on Ebay in the States for a Hazet tool but the shipping costs were silly.
Have also checked out the www.hazet.de site but cannot determine which model number tool I would need,hence this post!
Any info gratefully received.

Thanks, knew I should have done a search the minute I posted the original query!
It seems that I either need a Hazet 2169 or a 103 589 02 09 00 (which according to one US website is made by Matador for MB).
Getting the tool from my local stealer seems the easiest option (if they'll sell one to me that is!)
Looks like I'm going to have to be *extremely polite* to them on Monday at their parts dept then!
