Just had the car on STAR & diagnosis says the oil level sensor is faulty; although it seems to be working fine!?!

Can anyone tell me the part number & where best to buy on line??

VIN:WDB2304742F027953

Give the guys at MB Inchcape a call with your VIN, they'll give the best price.

Will send them a mail as they don't show the SL55 in the drop down menu!

Cheers :thumb:

If its working fine and you just have a code I wouldn't worry too much.

That's what I was thinking too! I have just changed the oil & read the level before the change; it stated 2 liters low. When changed, I put in just shy of 8 liters where it should be 8.5 liters; the oil level stated:OK & still does.

When on STAR, we re-set all faults in memory & after the diagnosis, it read faulty Oil Level Sensor.

Although, my mechanic said that normally when faulty, it doesn't read the oil level

Both sumps??

When I checked changing oil on line, there is only 1 drain plug?!

Your VIN when entered into one of the Russian sites shows two different sumps. No idea why... :dk:

In the top picture the back of the sump appears to be deeper and lower than the front section and I wondered if there was a second drain plug. (I've no idea really and absolutely no idea why they show two different designs, I was just curious after seeing Olly's comment).

Yes, interesting. But, how come it doesn't show another drain plug!?

There are two drain plugs.

Any decent mechanic will see them both.

Oh, as I have most definitely left some of the "old"(some 4000 miles & just over a year) oil which was the same brand but PRO S, should I change the oil again; or can this wait till the next oil change in a years time??
