Hi all,

For the past couple of days, after a short while of driving (between 2 and 10 minutes) the oil light is coming on on the dashboard. Dipstick is showing almost at maximum so all appears ok there, but there's something not right somewhere.

Any obvious sensor or anything I can get checked out or could this be the start of something more sinister? The oil needle in the car (can't remember what the guage is called) is still holding its own fine and nothing is odd there.

Oh, and car is a 1995 SL500.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Regards

If the level and pressure are good then the sender is faulty or a wire is shorting to Gnd.

Thanks for the quick response. That was my thoughts too but always good to get it confirmed / 2nd opinioned.

Did have the bizarre thought that the dipstick was the wrong one for the car and was too long so giving a duff reading at one point!
