Oil question 320 cdi

According to the castrol website in my 2007 CLS 320 CDI i need 8.5 litres of oil.

Surely this cannot be right? seems way too much, i thought it was 7.3 or 7.5L?

Any advice please?

Always better to put too little than too much and topping up if need be.

So castrol are saying 8.5L
And mobil are saying 8.0L

Erm, thats quite a big difference?!??!

Then a manual i had here says 7.3L and i read on forums its 7.5L.

Why would a 320 cdi from a CLS be different to another 320 cdi from a CLS?

Try the Shell site. The Shell global homepage - Shell Global

Putting the vehicle details in manually it returns a capacity of 8.0 litres. It also shows the engine type (OM642.920) check the '642' against the first three digits of the engine number on the V5 document, they should match.

I think they increased the capacity on later 320CDI engines. (AFAIK).

Doesn't really matter, you will have to buy 2 x 4 or 5L cans anyway...
