I had to take the wife to Manchester airport this morning, and as leaving early was deffo on the cards, a nice gentle drive up the M6 was in order.
Likewise the same on the way back.
When i got back home this was the readout:

190 miles / 3.21h
Av spd 57mph
61MPG

how chuffed was I?:D :D
Not bad for a 6 yr old diesel estate car..

I hoe that the mods ban this type of thread

Pray tell...............

You see Malcom is used to getting 6.1 mpg......

must be the fancy valve caps ;)

My old V70R does 19 around here, though doing a steady 50mph it returned 55mpg going to Stansted only that once and never seen it since.

I have never owned a car that did much more than 20mpg, thats with all 468 cars

i think i'd struggle to name 468 cars:(
Would that be a record?

Oh look! Another thread about how economical small diesels are when driven steadi........ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sounds like a faulty trip computer to me :D

My SL only has a swinging needle MPG dial, so unless I work it out based on fuel added and miles covered I never know :)

I've got a second one that's not the speedometer ... you can watch the fuel needle go down :D

And boy does it go down fast. I'm not sure I really want to know what mpg I get...though I sometimes get strange looks from folks when I say I'm not sure....there again, it maybe not my ignorance that does it!!!
