Onspeed any good?

It will help the general browsing experiance, but will do little for file downloads, virus defs etc will still take a while.

Why are you considering it?

I read in .net magazine online, that it almost doubled the speed of their broadband connection from 449k to 913k, but i know it cannot handle already compressed files, and you can pay the penalty of blocky graphics when setting on are maximum.

Basically a client of mine has satellite broadband (out in the sticks) and its a little on the slow side, business connections at £200 getting expensive each month or quarter, i suppose he's looking for a quick cheap fix. This software seems to be getting rave reviews, top awards etc. Wondered if anyone on here uses it

Do you use it DLW?

Onspeed is now a free add-on with BT Yahoo (which is what I've got).
It significantly speeds up browsing on predominantly text-based sites such as this forum - to the extent that compared to 512 BB it's as quick as you need.
However, if viewing sites with graphics or undertaking updates or downloads, it should be disabled then page refreshed. (Simple)
You can choose 5 settings between high acceleration/compression and image/graphic quality. As with everything, horses for courses - no outlandish claims are made and for rattling through forums or online news sources - it's very good indeed.
