Opinions/Advice on this W211 E240

Caps (Black Book) at approx 8700 Trade £11800 retail, miles adjusted. No allowance made for extra spec, so value as you see fit. How many owners, what source (private or leasing/company)? If paying your price I would want a stonking aftercare package and any concerns addressed without question.

Datacard says it has xenons.

Price is way high... If there's something I've learnt from being on this forum it's you shouldn't be afraid of a higher-mile MB ;)

Howard has kindly sent me a copy of the Datasheet, when I try and open it, it simply causes my browser to try and re-download it?!? (it made me install Microsoft Framework 1st).

Anyone help? (unless you can copy/paste it please H?)

Looks a cracking car, I guess rare for a 240 to have such a high spec, but feel it is very highly priced.

In the credit crunch (last year) I recal seeing a 320 petrol for sale for less in MB Ayr it was £9k and whilst not as highly spec'd still had the essentials.

Its in the valeo zone, and on the verge of galvanisation/nano. I just hope its mint, the engines are solid and refined and the cars spec is lovely, so I hope they enjoy it.

Thanks for the heads up, I have been searching for the big thread on the Valeo issue, should it have the old one, what is the likelyhood they would replace it? or will they most likely claim no knowledge?

Im more concerned about the potential rust problems as that is the only reason why they are getting shot of the W210 (rust on EVERY single panel - including the fuel filler cap).

Regarding the 7 MPG on the screen, I take it thats just a result of it being moved around vaious carparks, for the past week or so and not a fault?

The MS Framework thing has a XPS reader built in but its still trying to re-download it :confused::confused:

Unless I try another 3rd party one tonight

I went to look at a used E320 cdi there and I thought they were a bit on the dear side!

If it has a behr radiator its obvious, there is a sticker on it that says Behr :D I'd ask the dealer to change the rad if not a behr one, and also do a gycol test.

Its an AUC car so I believe that should be covered by the tier 1 warranty for the year.

Me too, I'd be honest and say it was a 2005 car on a 05/55 reg I'd feel better about the price given it could turn rusty. I'd have guessed £14000 would get you a newer diesel car, but not with such a comprehensive spec, its unusually high and the low miles should mean the SBC pump has a lot of life in it.

In saying that, early 211's show little rust, only possibly the rear arches and on estates the tailgate. Most of it is alloy/aluminium.

Aye, or it being left to idle. It won't be great on fuel but not that bad. I'd guess late 20's early 30's on a run and about 25 in mixed and teens in town.

No Comand, no heated seats (essential with leather IMHO), 16" alloys. Not that high spec in my book. But it does seem a high price for a 6 year old petrol!

And no way would I pay the transfer fee - I bet they have already charged it to the sellers!

!

Hmmm. Pano roof, keyless go, memory seats, birds eye maple wheel, 4 zone climate on the other hand...all things lacking on my car. Buy aye, would want to pay about 30% less for the car.

My Dad has recieved an email from MB today claiming that the Finance company want just under £4k deposit up front (including the £500 already put down) which will reduce the monthly payment.

They say this is nothing to do with my Dad's Credit, its down to the age of the vehicle itself.

My Dad isnt to keen on this last min change + they have ignored 3 questions he has asked. He was orignally told £500 deposit was all that was needed.

Opinions guys?

Look elsewhere. It's not the best value car in the first place I think. I'm sure that given the change in requirement for a deposit means that £500 deposit would be refunded.

Astonished that it has taken until now for the Finance Company to decide this. And I'll put my last £ on the deposit being nothing to with the age and everything to do with the high purchase price not being recoverable if there was a default.
