I need to get a new set of tyres, not really sure what to go for, the zz3's are £80 each which is pretty good for 225\45\17's.

I just wanted to know if any one has used these, or if there is website which shows tyre tests?

Cheers Guys!

Just to give you a balanced argument, i have ZZ3s on the rear of mine and they seem fine. I DID make the mistake years ago of fitting ZZ1s onto an MX-5 - what a horrible tyre that was. Rock hard and no grip in the wet at all.

The ZZ3 is a much better tyre than its predecessor, and has a more silica rich compound for improved grip, at the (slight) expense of increased wear.

They're a directional tyre, so the grip in reverse is er, interesting, particularly in snow!

Avon and Cooper are the same company apparently - my coopers are very good in the dry, and permit entertainment in the wet. Wear is excellent.

IIRC, Avon are what Bentleys come with from the factory.

My wife's car is fitted with Avon ZZ3's all round and they work fine for us. Grip is satisfactory in both wet and dry conditions and road noise is not any greater than what came off the previous tyres, (Continental)

On my own car I had Avon ZZ3's fitted to the rear in December 03 as the car is being replaced next month. Again they work fine and I do not notice any difference between the Avon and the Pirelli P6000 that they replaced - well apart from the price that is!! The Avon's were £80 each wheras for the Pirelli's they wanted £125 each.

Personally I think the Avon is good value for money and I would certainly buy them again.

I've ZZ3's on my 190E and I think they are great, the car really sticks to the road well. Don't have any idea what they'll be like on wear yet.
Good value I think.
