Hi All,
I am going to have a look at a 56 plate 320CDi E class sport on Saturday which has the following spec:
Parking sensors front and rear
Sat Nav
Harmon Kardon sound system
Panoramic sunroof
Full Electric memory seats for driver and passenger
Heated front seats
60/40 folding rear seats.
All in all a very nicely optioned car in my option. This got me thinking so I have a couple of questions.
How much would have all these have cost above the purchase price?
How would this affect the second hand price? I know some people would just say it makes a car easier to sell. Thanks.
Regards, Derek

seems a good spec - how many miles, private, dealer or main dealer, what's the asking price and have you had a merc before?

If you haven't had one before and you aren't sure about mercs find a good Indie that will give it the once over for you - it may cost £50 or so but he could save you thousands even if "it's just been serviced Sir" and "here are the bills to prove it".

Hi Joecash, Its got 66000 miles on it and from a main dealer.

They are asking 9k. which I thought was good in light of the spec. I have seen some private cars which were not much cheaper and not near as well optioned.

Getting a indie to look at it also seems a good idea.

PS Does anyone know how much these extras would have cost when it was first bought? I'm just curious to know. Thanks, Derek

Hello Derek,

I did a similar exercise when I bought mine.

These are 2006 prices from an options price list.
Parktronic £605
Satnav £1990
HK £510
Driver seat memory £665
Pass seat memory £380
Heated front £320
60/40 standard fit
Can't find it again right now to give you the Pano - sorry.

I hope this helps.

My view is they will add something to the value, but obviously not list, however they will make the car more saleable, with than without.

Sorry Tony - I just had a 2006 E Class options list tucked away.

I suspect there are various brochures as PDF's on the net if you have a dig.

No worries developer i was only trying to work out what the old girl would have cost new.
Thanks anyway.
Tony.

Hi Developer,
Thanks for digging out the info. I agree that the options will not affect the price too much but will make it easier to sell on. Of course you get the benefit of the options while you have the car.
I do tend to keep my cars a long time if they fit the bill.
Do you happen to know how much a 320 CDI sport would have cost in 2006? I tried google but no luck. Many thanks, Derek

Comand sat nav and the panoramic roof are the two most desirable (for resale) options on that list.

Those options make that car 'high' spec, and I would say that if they weren't on the car, you'd be looking at £8,500ish instead of £9k.

Great cars by the way, I have owned seven W211's and enjoyed each one.

Thanks SPX that's worth knowing. As I said in the OP I will be looking at the car tomorrow. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks again, Derek
