OSX Lion

Done and upgraded in 2 hours flat (have access to a very fast connection), works a charm on my early 2008 Macbook pro - some features are missing, such as some of the gestures and airdrop (due to older wifi hardware) but overall i'm very pleased and for 21 quid you can't go wrong :)
It took 4hours 10mins to complete download and install. The install took 45 minutes totally. The only thing i have found that i needed to change so far was the scroll direction on the magic mouse everything else appears to be OK.

Downloaded it last night, over night, but havent had the time to activate it yet, I will do that after work.

Downloaded in a snappy 17 hours no problem, isn't broadband great.:)

Is it worth it then guys?

I am taking my mac to work tomorrow, so if its worth getting I might do the download there as it will be superfast.

Started my download tonight hoping it's done by morning on my weak broadband of 1mb.

I didn't like apple mail so use Outlook on office 2011. Is the new apple mail an improvement?

In my opinion, no. Apple are using the 'back to the mac' concept with a lot of their own apps, so the mail app is supposed to have the look and feel of the IOS versions of mail. It certainly looks like them, but feels very odd to use. A friend of mine described it as the old mail.app with a new skin.

If you add an Exchange account, it still doesn't even support push mail, so after trying to get used to it for an hour or so, I was soon back to Office 2011. People may deride Outlook, but you really can't beat it for email and calendar management.

A little different, when it backed up on time machine there was 8.5 gb extra

So how does one use the disc on a separate mac?

insert the disk and then click on the disk image and it will open up a folder in which there is a file called "install osx lion"

Double click it and it will take you through the steps..

It was very simple, it will just write the new software over the existing..

mac no 1 done yesterday; took 4 hours to download ( BT broadband 20 mbps- what a joke! I actually never see more than 1.8 download speeds but that's another story)
and took about 45 mins in all to install etc.
Running fine :-)
Need to get used to the tweaks before I know how good lion is... :)

All downloaded. First thing I did was revert mouse from "natural" to the way it was. Can't see any real improvements yet. If I expand a window to full size the second monitor cuts out. Hmmm.

I have installed Lion after a download that lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. Installation was over 10.6.8 rather than a clean install (too much stuff that I did not want to leave behind) and it required about 38 minutes.

This new cat looks cleaner and more refined to my eye even though some of the workings appear to have been stolen from iOS. I like the coherent gestures (using magic mouse here) and wondered about getting myself one of those Tragic Mac-pads. I think I will wait a bit because the magic mouse seems to be a little improved and easier to use in Lion.

I needed a few minutes to get with the change to direction of scrolling and I tend towards the idea that it does appear to be more intuitive... providing one thinks about moving the content in the window rather than thinking about moving the scroll bars.

The software appears to have injected a little speed into the moving of windows and swapping spaces. I like the new look to Mail and the Calendar applications. I hope that iCloud properly supports shared calendars so that both me and my wife can use a common calendar for events and see if they will clash before we book them.

No dramas here then and I feel that the purchase price of £20.99 represents something of a bargain for a newly minted and updated OS.

have downloaded and that was fine ... but now Sophos keeps throwing a fit everytime I browse the web - I get constant phish errors for verify.html.

Anyone had any flash issues running adobe software with lion?

Set it to down load and installed it the next morning, so not sure how long it took in the end.

Install was about 40 mins and using it so far is good, feels a bit quicker than before, over all I am liking it :-)

Not Flash specifically... I keep that abomination off my machines, much preferring HTML5. I had an issue with running Adobe's CS4 Design Suite though. It turned out to be the Java runtime needing a manual install as it was not included with Lion.

I understand that it was excluded so that the runtime can be developed more as open source rather than as an OS X-based software. Inconvenient? Yes. Overall though... it should lead to some rapid improvements in Java.

Adobe cites issues with Lion and you can find the workarounds and solutions to your issues on their site.

have noticed i can no longer pinch on the desktop screen to reduce/ enlarge desktop icons; i have to go into the preferences for it.
