Hello, it's me again.

Another one that I cannot figure out.....

I have Outlook Express as part of a package of other 'Office' items as a trial in this new laptop of mine. What happens when the trial runs out? and, can I link my other e-mails to this?, ie @Hotmail.co.uk & [email protected] stuff? so I can work off-line or maybe use the Outlook as my main e-mail.

Totally confused yet again.

You can link external accounts just like Outlook. There should be an account setup section in tools IIRC.
This will then poll the severs specified.

Outlook Express you get to keep.

Outlook and the other 'Office' stuff will cease to work after the trial period expires (usually 60 days) but you won't lose any data (although getting at Outlook's mail afterwards is a bit tricky).

You can set up all your email accounts to send and receive in Outlook and Outlook Express if they support a mail format called POP3 (which yours do).

In both programs you will see an option in the account settings to "leave mail on server" and this would be a wise move with Outlook if you are going to allow the trial to expire as you can then download your mail in Outlook Express as well as viewing any new mail in Outlook.

If you need to keep records of mail sent using Outlook and you are not going to use it after the trial period you may want to send yourself blind copies which will go to your Outlook Express InBox.

Once Office is installed Windows will usually default email service to Outlook. If you prefer to use Outlook Express you can change the setting by right-clicking on Internet Explorer, choosing Internet Properties and going to the Programs tab.

Hi & thanks. I tried the others and then the POP one. The POP one is asking me for two things, 'incoming mail server (POP3)' and 'outgoing mail server (SMTP)' where would I find these?.

Ta :o

Re: Mail servers
Click Tools>Account Properties Servers

Should be something like mail.btinternet.com or pop and smtp instead of mail eg pop.tiscali.com
HTH.
