Overdue Service

No what I mean is that on every page where the dealer stamps box is there is also a number of tick boxes for things like coolant, brake fluid etc for the person carrying out the service to indicate if these have been done as part of the service or not.

Understood that cost of the service is greater if these are done at the same time just never occurred to me that they aren't considered service items.

Don't have a service plan and don't use MB. I spend enough on the car already without using the stealers :)
With you now Tagnut, reason i asked about service plan was that brake fluid changes, coolant & spark plugs are all included,so when you consider the spark plugs alone for my car are £300 then you will understand why i took out a 2 year/2 service plan at £30 a month:)

A lot of the snow had thawed so I was able to take the car to dealer and I got it serviced. Do I hate Mercedes Lakeside? This will be the last time I deal with them. The staff are just so arrogant! It was one of the reasons I didnt buy my car from them.

I arrived at the service reception and handed over my keys. The assistant service manager then asked me how I was going to pay when I came to pick up my car and I said credit card and he said fine and that he would give me a call. I returned to pick up my car and this time I was dealing with the service manager himself. He asked my how I wanted to pay and I said credit card and he said there would be a 1% surcharge. I told him no one told me about this and he just shrugged his shoulders and said that was the way it is and he didnt make the rules.

The surcharge was less than £2 but as a matter of principle I wasnt happy paying it. I feel I should have been informed of all charges before my car was taken in to be serviced. His response that it was the way it was and he didnt make the rules just stinks and that got me really annoyed and I let him know what I really felt Lakeside Mercedes. Is he trying to say if they decided to charge a 50% surcharge, I would have just had to pay it.

I know many mickey mouse organisations charge credit card surcharges but I didnt expect a Mercedes dealer to follow that trend. I should have been told before my car was worked on then I would have had the choice to take my business elsewhere.

They would be better off not sending me any questionnaire. Next time, I,ll try the dealer across the river in Dartford and hopefully they may be better. (rant over)

Guessing MB Lakeside is part of MB London? If it is then it will be owned and operated by MB UK themselves. Same is true of MB Manchester and MB Birmingham.

The attitude you describe is typical of what I've experienced also. I find the franchised dealers offer better service at a lower price - they actually have an interest in keeping happy customers and filling service bays.

How I wish I could drive back to MB Bridgend (South Wales) to get my car serviced. It was a joy dealing with that dealer. I do not expect any special treatment when I deal with organisations. I just expect to be treated fairly.

I have just booked mine in for its first service at 1 year old... £257 fully inclusive - how does that stack up price wise? (mine is a diesel)

Sounds ok. The prices are same for diesel and petrol models. I paid £225. Prices vary and I know there are dealers where you can get an A service done for £199.

Way to much!!!! £199 (22.5% less) list price at MB Chesterfield for instance where my W212 350 diesel was done last Friday. (I also got 10% off therefore "only" £180 for an oil change!)
