Surprised you have got as much as 9 months from Supaguard.
What is your wash maintenance programme?
Don't have a programme, as such. My problem is that I am extremely lazy when it comes to car care (other than ensuring that they are serviced on the dot).
Before I had the paintwork treatment done last year, I used to take the car to the American Car Wash place on the A10 near Cheshunt every couple of weeks. However, persuaded by various posts on here about the evils of such £5 makeovers, I decided to have it de-swirled, clayed and sealed last year; this was the first time it had enjoyed such pampering in the five years I'd owned it.
Since then, I have resolutely avoided the temptation to return to the hand car wash places, which means that most of the time the car is covered in a film of finest London muck. However, every few months the guilt will kick in and I will invest a couple of quid in a jet wash session, which seems to do the trick since the treatment was done (whereas before it just used to move the dirt around and leave unsightly streaks in between). I can count the number of times the car's seen a jet wash in the past nine months on three fingers...
Occasionally, if I'm feeling really energetic, I will go over it with a detailing spray. This has perhaps happened twice - I'm still on my first spray bottle, and it's about half-full. I find this quite effective at removing any water marks left behind by the jet wash or a light shower, but in the photos below the car was far from glassy, making the evident shine all the more rewarding.
As you will have gathered, I am not a detailing afficionado and I know nothing of the relative merits of the various sealing products out there, so I went with the recommendation of the company that did the work. Their website says that Supagard can last for up to five years. That may prove somewhat optimistic, but so far I'm happy with it.
