It's been a few days since I made a purchase on eBay from a guy in Poland. There is no problem with the seller in fact he has been very helpful.

The parcel arrived in the country but since Friday it's been sat at LANGLEY HWDC according to the royal mail tracking service (see image below).

How long does it normally take for parcels to be released from this place. Has anybody else been in the same position as me?

Given it's from Poland there is no reason for it to be stuck in customs, but frankly they are a law unto themselves. I have bought a few things from Japan recently and they got stuck in Coventry each for a week at a time. I understand that at least as they had to levy charges, but from an EU country, no. However, there's nothing you can do about it, alas.

I've had similiar tracking info in the past, even after the item has been delivered. I wouldn't worry, sometimes they are just slow to update.

Unfortunately has developed a bit of a reputation as the "Bermuda Triangle" of Overseas Packages over the years.
It may be stuck in Customs due to import regulations rather than charges due. Might help if you told us the nature of the item. Its possible the package was incorrectly /inadequately labelled for customs by the sender meaning its gone into some sort of" pending investigation " backlog.

It's just a centre console trim for w210.

Seems harmless enough [ inert assembly] in terms of regulations, which leaves us with the possibility of inadequate package labelling meaning its transit through the system may be delayed until its inspected/cleared by customs? :(

Assuming its a new piece of trim and not something from a scrapped (?) car I reckon your Polish seller was a European based middle man (nothing dodgy) in Poland but ordering stock from China, hence why its been stuck??? I bought copy mudflaps for my DS but paid the extra £10 over the one's in China for a UK based seller to avoid such a problem.

Guys apparently a breaker he had a few w210 bits (Not all from the same car) for sale.

So I take it all i can do now is wait?

Not that it is of any consolation to you, but I had an undertray come from Poland in 3 days, and a while back I had a power steering pump for my Sprinter, that came in only a few days, so it is strange why your trim is taking so long.

Or , just as likely , the Royal Mail staff don’t read Polish ...

Yes, this is what I meant. - There's no reason for it to be stuck in customs, but until HMRC have cleared it they have total control.

This is the most likely issue. If the guy has reused packaging from another item it could cause issues, we recently had a shipment to Ireland held at customs and then returned to the UK. Turns out one of our guys had re-used a laptop box, complete with UN3480 label (indicating it contained Li-Ion batteries), despite the consignment not referring to Batteries or electronic equipment!

Hopefully it's something really simple like that.

Hopefully as this was posted over a year ago ...

I had similar problems with HWDC earlier this year. I was sending a registered delivery(?) letter to Ireland (simply a letter, not a parcel, so no customs issues) and it sat at HWDC for nine days before they decided to stick it on a plane. I complained but no-one could explain why - very frustrating.
