Whilst it's in my head, and getting the W202, I bought back to good condition both inside and out... or at least usable and tidy.

My 5 Speed Auto, will let me change from Park, into Reverse without my foot on the brake? However it won't let me take the key out in anything but Park, so I know that fail safe is doing it's job. I was thinking the brake switch might but at fault, but all three brake lights work faultlessly.

Bit of a safety concern although I'm aware of it when I drive.

Can also shift from N to D at a stop without my foot on the brake.

Doesn't seem to be much resistance at all, I know my Dad's LS430, is solid and won't let you shift from park without the key in and foot on the brake, when you get a little "click" Solenoid or Relay from the pedal box area... There's also a override shift lock button on his transmission but not the Mercedes.

Any advice welcome.

Anyone?
