Parrot Kits?

Quite so, you just didn't say what wasn't 'great' though and I couldn't resist the irony :)

Forgot of this thread!

How do the parrot kits feed into the radio/speakers? Do they interfere with other auxiliary things like cd changers or omnifi units, etc?

M.

I imagine Parrot will be similar to the Bury kits in that there will be a box with a low powered amplifier inside and a relay system to switch over between the car head unit and the carkit for speakers .

As long as you have a 'normal' car stereo with ISO connectors then you simply plug the carkit in line between the head unit and the speakers ( the kit comes with a loom with male and female ISO connectors to simplify this ) .

The system I have in my car has a head unit with no on board amplification and a DSP unit in the boot which distributes line level audio to the various power amplifiers which then drive the loudspeakers - so this system cannot accomodate a carkit simply interrrupting the loudspeakers ; with this system , the head unit has a telephone mute function which is activiated by the carkit when a call is active , and the carkit amplifier drives its own small speaker in the footwell - this still works very well indeed and audio quality is excellent for voice calls .

Vehicles that have an amplifier will require extra wiring/connectors. I think someone has done this on here and has stated it requires an (expensive) loom that will have to run from the head unit to the boot.

Parrot 9200i

I have been running 2 of these in my cars and I'm very pleased with the performance. The sound quality and noise suppression when speaking are excellent . Only problem is , now they are getting over 2 years old ,they are getting a little temperamental in the sense that sometimes they fail to connect automatically to the phone or when answering a call , the caller can't hear me or I can't hear them .

The sound quality is not bad when playing music through an iPhone via Bluetooth-obviously not hifi quality but expectable . The colour screen screen is great for seeing callers or songs when driving .

I would recommend it !

Mki 9200 & NTG1 Comand APS

Parrot kits are excellent... If you have comand the wiring can be a pain as you have to buy an expensive loom that has to be fed all the way to the boot...

The kits themselves are excellent.

Not all Comand only NTG1 which has a seperate audio gateway.

Vehicles that have an amplifier will require extra wiring/connectors. I think someone has done this on here and has stated it requires an (expensive) loom that will have to run from the head unit to the boot.

Ive tried to search for more info but turned nothing up.

Customer has a SOT-912 interface lead but this isn't right for NTG1 Comand APS systems.

Parrot don't list a lead on their website either only Audio 10 & 20 leads
Parrot - installation

Does anyone know what the lead is that runs from front to back to install a Parrot MKi 9200 ?

Thanks

I'll join in. IO Play 2 music is better than the Parrot.... I'm quite impressed.

Can't comment on call quality as I reused an existing microphone, which resulted in a sloppy connection that has fallen out. Need to take to pieces again... Should have taped it.

I put a 9200 in my w210, sound on phone was fine, but for music it was horrific, both from the small 3w amp they use or when using their line out.

I ripped it out and put a Bury in, as that seemed to be a much better phone system....

Having said all that though, I would now use one of the decent head units like the Pioneer 80prs, looks pretty neat and sounds unreal.

I've put in the Pioneer Bluetooth head unit in my W202 - a very easy install, just run the mic wire up the inside of the A pillar, under dash and plug in - reasonable radio + Bluetooth from Hellfrauds, for about £70.00....
