Hi

i'm a bit concerned about my W124 this year for its MOT which is due next week.

Firstly, the exhaust has 4 patch repairs on it. Not welds, its been repaired with the a bean can and foil tape. Others is the "tough as metal" type putty stuff & foil tape. take a look HERE for some info.

Can anyone confirm whether, aslong as its not leaking exhaust gasses excessively at idle (which its not with these repairs in place), it should pass? The exhaust, although patched a fair bit, still has a good few 1000 miles of life left so i'd rather not replace yet if i dont have to.

also can anyone let me know if rear subframe mounts are included as part of the MOT? These are pretty worn and i do plan to replace them but wont get the chance before the MOT.

thanks

Derek

Mine passed last time with a patch and a tin can over it with hose clips .

And I thought it was only me who repaired cars with baked bean tins !!!

I rather think they will fail the sub-frame mounts ... Depends on how bad they are.
