I think there is a limited number of members on here who are particularly interested in "tuning" their cars so answers are sometimes limited.
I would say that if you don't want to remove the cat converters from your exhaust then you are pretty limited for any real gains in performance from an exhaust system. I would guess the standard system is at least 2.5" so a fairly decent diameter.
For a more sporty sound then a better or shorter rear silencer may give you want you're after, I'd suggest seeking out a custom exhaust centre like Power Flow https://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/
or look up respected brands like Milltek.
There will no doubt be opinions of the above but I have first hand experience with power flow exhaust on trackday cars I've run and they have always been great, never broken and helped on my quest for more power (cats always removed).
Never tried "sports cats" so cannot comment on what they do or don't do but if you can get hold of a set of second hand cats you could always have them gutted out, that should get you sportier sound and remove the restriction from the exhaust system. Refit the original cats if the car fails an MOT which it will probably pass anyway.
I had the quad conversion done to my 2003 CLK55, sounded wonderful, I even had a policeman pull up beside me at a set of lights to say it sounded great!

What set up was for the quad exhaust on clk55?
I ordered the eurocharged headers and the moment no secondary and middle box and was thinking to fit the header from eurocharged and c63 back box if I get my hands on one of those
Cheers

The Qauds come as a whole exhaust system, I got mine from CKS but would certainly ask Eurocharged if they do them especially as you have already ordered their headers!
