Hi Guy's,

I'm new around here (see my welcome thread) so apologies if this is real simple stuff!!!!!

I have just bought a C320 which has Sat nav and the phone option installed and I have a couple of questions.

1) What is the best way to get a modern phone working with the command unit? Bluetooth would be great if possible as I change my phone quite often so don't really want to have to get a cradle that needs changing every time.

I've seen the ViseeO MB4 units which look good but not sure if it'll work with my older setup.

I don't have the bare connector, it has a cradle and an adapter that looks like its for an old style Nokia. It's connected via the connector (i Assume, I can't see under the cradle - will have to take it off and have a look but haven't done this as of yet!!) and also has a coiled cable connected to one end which is removable - its in the cradle one end and then disappears into the center console.

2) On the Sat nav there are 2 dynamic routing options - TCS and TMC I think!! One is a subscription service and the other uses RDS - now I have looked through the book and made sure RDS is turned on etc but when I go into Sat nav settings BOTH of those options are greyed out - is there something else that I'm not setting? I haven't tried with the phone connected yet but I would have thought the RDS one would have worked without.

Cheers.

I can't help with the phone, but for TMC to work whoever bought your current map CD would have needed to pay the extra licencing fee required to unlock it. I believe the map CDs are different in that one has the extra licencing information on it which then enables it on the COMAND unit.

You can buy an updated map CD with TMC enabled but obviously they cost more.

Just had a look and it looks like I don't have the little connector in the centre console - the cradle seems to be fixed.

I've had a look at the part number for the cradle adapter and it seems to be for a Nokia 6310i - anything you can do to upgrade this?

I guess I could get a 6310i from Ebay for next to nothing and just move my SIM into it each time I drive but that would be a bit of a faff!!

The Viseeo MBU 3000 will fit into the 6310 cradle and then let you connect your phone via bluetooth. The viseeo units work well on the older cars - I have one - whereas the MB bluetooth adapter is hopeless on the older cars. It echos too much.

Cheers for that - found one on Ebay for £149.00, I guess there's no where cheaper than that but let me know if you know anywhere.

Cheers for the help.

Alfie will also give you any advice you need before buying from him. He and Richard are the experts for all Merc electrics.

Mercedes Comand Navigation and Audio Specialists (Alfie on here) does them at the same price. I would rather get one from him than an unknown ebay seller.

Cheers for that, I will order from them then. I will email them as I can't PM as my post count is too low due to being a newbie!!!
