plasti dip your car?

Don't know about stopping it but it would definitely hide it.

I have a couple of friends who used the Clear Plasti on their alloy wheels over this winter to protect them from salt and I must admit it done a good job and was very easy to remove. While it is not as good as a professional paint gun job it was well worth the money that was spent. The price of 2 cans saved them having to refurb the wheels. I will give the clear coat a go on my wheels for "protection" from the weather this year.

I blacked out my Avantgarde grille with Plasti dip.
rubber based paint is really sticky!
gave my grille a new look ala 80's AMG gangstah cars :thumb:

Why would anyone want to inflict such a thing on their car ?

Most probably because its cheaper than a wrap or respray and its fully reversible. Also you do not need any specific training or skill level to do it. The Plasti will be a uniform finish albeit a little "rubbery" so no worrying about drips and runs etc.

I once saw a Focus RS that had been sprayed in it, looked ok from a distance but close up it was rough, very rough, but this was probably down to the skill level of the lad who did it.. Dont think i would do the bodywork (based on what i saw) but clear coat for the wheels in winter may not be a bad idea..

Its easy enough to use, get a better finish if you use the glossifier afterwards.

Any final photos of the finnished badges?

This is something I might try, just to see what the car would like with all the chrome bits in matt black. Seems a like a great way to suck it and see so to speak, and just peel it off it doesn't look right.

There are loads of youtube how to vids on the subject and some of the results look o.k.

This could be an interesting way of cheering up an old beater without too much expense, or just to try another look. Love the fact it can just be peeled off.

If anyone has any photos of wheels done with the clear that would be great. The rubbery finnish would an ideal way to protecting wheels, and especially with diamond cut finnish, this sounds and ideal option for winter, but I'm curious to see how it looks.

What happens when someone runs their fingernail down the side of your car ?

Because , lets face it , anyone who sees a rubbery car is going to want to touch and feel it

Any pictures of DIY jobs?

The front distributor cover was sprayed in red Plastidip over three years ago.
More then withstood the high engine bay temps from the turbos.

And also remember that Plasti Dip is cheapest from Plasti themselves. Not the usual auction site.

I haven't looked recently, but they did offer free postage on ebay whereas through their site it was an additional cost. I think it worked out the same cost for either route but could be wrong.

I bought it from their website so they don't have to pay any more money to eBay!

I'm very tempted to somehow treat the dog cage in this stuff to stop it rattling. Just not sure how to apply it. Any ideas?
