After installing an after market 35w 6000k hid on my 2008 c220, only one was working. Now both wouldnt work. I have changed it back to the original bulbs but still wouldnt work. i have bought a canbus pro thinking it would have done the magic but still no joy. really need some help as i work nights and cant use the car.

Please Please H..E..L..P..

thanks

I have been told the headlights are not fused. There is no fuse fir the headlights with the w204 models. can u let me know if u know where the fuse is please. Thanks

Sorry for not helping much but I'm rather glad they aren't working.

Nothing worse than aftermarket HID's imho.

[edit] why are you linking to a filter on amazon?

just checked the fuses and even changed them but to no avail... really getting depressed now.. :(

i hope someone will be able to help me solve this problem today. are there any other fuses that are connected to the headlight in any way

The Front SAM (control unit) controls all the front lights, does bulb failure detection etc.

It is unlikely that you have damaged it, because it does cope with short circuited wiring etc - but it is possible :-(

Do you get any error messages on the dashboard ?

Assuming your car is pre MY2012 facelift, check F5, F18, F29, F30 all in the main fusebox in the engine bay

If all the fuses work, then it needs to be put on a Star Diagnosis machine by an auto-electrician (i.e someone that understands wiring, too many people with Star don't understand what to do with it)

Hid kits are not only illegal but seem to cause loads of probs. The US forums are full of stories. PS if you can get to Richard he will sort it!

thanks for the reply Richard. yes i do get an error message on the board. the side light and fog light all work fie. its the the headlights which will just not respond to anything. yes my car is 2008 and a check on all the fuses on SAM seems ok

Think il be leaving my headlights alone. Looks like you will need an auto electrician to try and sort this problem. Will your car pass the MOT with this new kit?

You've broken your car. Put the lights back the way they were.

He did already: "I have changed it back to the original bulbs but still wouldnt work."

Either the front SAM is blown, or you've broken some wires. The only answer now is to visit an auto-electrician with Star Diagnosis.

The SAM will turn off the power to the headlights if it detects short or open circuit, so you won't see power there at the moment.
