Either will do if you have the e740, Secure digital is the stamp sized one, compact flash is the larger one. Doesnt matter which one you get best place to get em from is your fave place.....EBAY!

All the more reason to buy only HIGH QUALITY cards. The cheap Chinese ones just won't do. Navigation software needs high quality/high speed in order to calculate the route QUICKLY. Many people have experienced problems with cheap cards using nav software, the biggest problem being that the route calc takes a very long time. When they upgrade to a Jap card, problems solved. Not all SD cards are created equally!

Although this is a little old, you'll see that in General the Japanese cards are the best.

Navman Official FAQs

My Navman jacket for the IPAC 3950i is fine until it gets to a major roundabout then it freezes and you have to reset the whole system to get anything working again. This is what Navman have to say :

"(90) My software sometimes freezes, or stops completely. What could be wrong?

There are occassions when SmartST will need to write information to the SD card. Please ensure that the SD card lock is not set to the "Locked" position. This lock can be found along one of the sides of the SD card. Another problem is that a number of cards that are made in China (this can be found on the back of the SD card) have very slow transfer rates, which will effect the information transfer speeds. If you have one of these cards, please arrange for a refund/exchange with your retailer. If possible, try get as quick an SD card as possible."

Funny thing is that it never used to do this, so my card is slowing down  ???

My advice would be get the fastest card you can afford.

I stopped using the sat nav jacket and I bought a Sandisk adapter for the card that means you can plug it into your USB port - I only use it as a jump drive now. This is why I have had sooo many posts in the electrical sections for satnav which both my cars have now, just need to get something in the other halfs car now...

Cheers

Stuart
