was wondering whether is any alternative ways to clean the polish rims to new condition other that using metal polish....would it be detrimental to the rims if i would to use a orbital polishing machine to do the job?

What wheels are you using metal polish on? 99% of rims sold in this country are diamond cut and lacquered so you shouldn't be using metal polish on them as you'll take the lacquer off.

However, if they are genuine bare metal alloy wheels you can polish them up using various mops. I've been polishing engine components, wheels etc for a few years now. It's a horrid job and requires a bit of skill to do.

is a genuine bare metal polish rims from japan...the usual detailer has been doing it for the past 2 years now....but i was trying to see whether i could do it myself

You can use autosol by hand and then brasso, both available in halfords.

If you want to get serious and buy the mops.

www.thepolishingshop.co.uk

you'll need a basic polishing kit, 1 sisel mop, 1 stitch mop and an unstitched, a drill bit and 3 types of compound brown, green and blue.

Read up on it online.

Any pics of your wheels they sound interesting.

actually i am using autosol and brasso:)

will check it out and post the pics soon
