can someone tell me where the pollen filter is location on a CLK W208 and if it's fiddly to swap over?

Hi,
Its in the passenger side footwell, you need to remove the lower dash trim, I believe its the same as a W202 C class, and is reasonably easy to do takes about 20-30 minutes or so.
Maybe slightly more complicated if the car is fitted with dual zone Climate control.

Is that not the location of the charcoal filter? I thought most of the pollen filters (cabin filters) were located in the engine bay on the right hand side near the back of the bay. Normally a couple of clips and cover comes off. Takes two minutes. Certainly is on my 211 and on my old 203!!

Hi,
202 and 208 (without dual zone climate control, not sure where it is with this), is 100% in the passenger footwell as I have changed a few.

I have dual zone climate so does that mean it's somewhere else?

No it doesn,t mean its in a different place its just I have,nt changed a dual zone before, though personally I think its still there.

Pretty sure that they're in the same place, W202 with the standard analogue heating/AC controls (dual zone) and a facelift CLK with the same setup were both in the passenger footwell.

Re - the charcoal/pollen filter comment - isn't there two types of possible fitments for ths same filter. Ie, a charcoal type and a regular filter - both fit in the same place though (?)

Might be confused, but I seem to remember something like that :)

Remove the plastic trim under the glove box (just a few screws) there you will find a black box with 2 small white clips - these clips slide to allow the lid to be removed from the black box....this is the housing for the heater motor / regulator and the large filter....this should be what you are looking for....

I think where the confusion is, is that I believe there is a charcoal filter for the emissions "somewhere" I,m sure someone like Olly has mentioned this before, IIRC its mounted inside the upper wheel arch linings in the passenger side wing, on w202's and I would think this is the case for the CLK 208 too.
Regarding charcoal pollen filter, I was told that the charcoal filter is for the cars with climate control and though slightly more expensive than the normal type is still not expensive, and are the same as the normal type (C43 they are the same anyway).

This was the How To I followed when I changed my cabin/pollen filter (and cleaned my blower motor) recently - worked for me :D. Basically it puts NICKYB's explanation above into photos...

thanks for the advice guys
