Hi

Has anyone tried using their car without the pollen filter in place? The filter for the 210 is almost £25 and needs changing often. While changing it the other day i tried the fan without the filter in place and all seemed to work fine.

Also i hear talk of a charcoal filter, is there another filter on the cabin air apart from the pollen filter on a 210.

Thanks,

Hi,

You can run perfectly well without the pollen filter. The inside of the car will get dirty a lot quicker though.

There are 2 versions of the pollen filter. The expensive carbon activated (darker in colour) or the basic version (snow white in colour).

As far as I am concerned, I change them at every service.

regards,

Job

Not a good idea, you could end up blocking the heater and A/C matrix.

according to the service schedule for w210,

Dust filter for the automatic air con is changed every A or B service code 8381
and the activated charcoal is changed every 50,000 km or 2 years code 8382

Hi

I'm still considering where to get my car serviced - the ''activated charcoal filter '' - is there an internet seller for the W203, 53 plate C180k, 4 door salon, auto?

Where is it located and how eay is it to change please?

Thanks

BTW - any creaks in your footbarake, use pdf spray, makes it better than new - got the tip on this site!!

just done mine 1 filter under the glove box 18 quid from GSF also for good measure just let a bacterial air con cleaner by comma ... circulate round the system for 10 mins ..... should be well clean by now ...will do this every year as we have over the last 4 months got one cold after another ....so see if this helps ...the other filter 3 years old

I ran mine (w210) for a year without the filter before I sold it.

Hangs head in shame.

You don't have to remove the glovebox in the 210, not sure about the 203.
In the 210 in is in the footwell under the glovebox, it slides in vertically upwards.

GSF is German Swedish and French Car Parts

it is under the glove box ..... if you have air con ...then its a singlr filter... if you have climate then you have two behind the glove box ...
