Today has been pretty awful in terms of the roads. Every Monday, for my sins, I have to drive down to my HO in Harrow from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. It's not a great journey at the best of times, but today, with a little wind and rain, it seems to have been far worse. Journey of 94 miles took 4 hours...
A14 - moving, but mostly dual and the inside lane full of containers limited to 56 ish and creating massive spray, pulling out when you are just about to overtake...
A11 - same, but moves a bit faster as the traffic splits towards Cambridge / London -thanks to the white van man who thought it was "fun" to drive up my backside for most of the this route despite it being possible to overtake. Had ripped off half of the "Safely Driven?" sign in his back window.
M11 - nasty. Dual to Stansted was crawling, couple of shunts at the side of the road, but reckless speeds from drivers in the dips despite the driving rain, and a couple of drivers who think rear fog lights really help in spray...they don't!
M25 - never good, but this morning, hell. Lot's of stop-starts and lane changing. Crawled around from Loughton to Potters Bar.
A1 - dreadful, seemed to be many more cars in all three lanes this morning, but terrible and late lane changing from everyone
And special thanks to the honda near stanmore station who just didn't get that the large white arrow curving right means you are in the right hand filter, not that you can go straight on, and sod the rest of us.
Rant over - but why does the worst of the weather bring out the worst drivers? Or is it just me? Does everyone drive on bad weather days because they expect public transport not to work?
Only thing that made it bearable is my new merc - fantastic!
Regards
