Seems I don't use my Porter Cable as much as I thought I would. It's only been used three times in the last year or so. Comes with a collections of pads and is in as new condition. Looking for offers around £120, or £150 with the transformer + P&P.

If these are $119 new, why do you want so much money for one second hand. The usual rule is 55% of new price or less depending on condition....

Seems like a good buy to me !! yeah $119 new but then you got shipping, possible Customs TAX, You gotta buy the transformer & Extension cable(£60+) then you've gotta change the USA plug over. Oh then you have to buy some pads too!! so that $119 is more like £250 yeah £ not $ !! plus some work.
£150 the lot is a bargain

OK, so you paid customs tax(Lost based on car tax on new car, ie value drops by £2-3k once you leave a show room)

Postage costs - can't be included in sale price as irrelavant to value of goods

Pads - If they are used they will need replacing anyway

Transformer and extension cable - If required to run the thing then can't be sold without them really.

Still think £120-£150 is a lot of money for something that has an actual value of $119 new.

If market conditions suggest the price is correct then I personally would not want to pay the premium.

Good morning rees_A,
I own one of these excellent machines, I respect your opinion, but respectfully disagree with it. If I had not already bought mine, then this item would now be sold.

Good luck with the sale and make sure you treat your car to one last polish before selling it.

Regards,
John

I might be interested, and I could collect it if you're in Manchester :)

Rees_A I appreciate your comments, but I (as well as a couple of other forum members) think that the price is fair.

To answer your points:

The point is that the Porter Cable is not available in the UK and as such anyone wishing to purchase this would need to import it from the States which would mean they would incur import tax and postage costs. I do not feel that just because I was the one that had to pay this that I should 'eat' the cost and not pass it on to the person I am selling to.

As I said in my original post, these pads have only been used a couple of times. They are not single use pads and they can be used repeatedly.

That’s how they are sold my Autopia, and if you read the original post I am offering my transformer for sale with the Porter Cable. The option is there for purchase without if someone already has a transformer.

If you are not interested in purchasing this item from me or you think that the price it too high then that is your prerogative, but please refrain from posting negative comments.

It's held for a couple of Forum members, I have not been back to Manchester for a couple of weeks and as such have not had a chance to drop it off. I'll add you to the list just incase the sale falls through.
