I'm toying with the idea of trading in the Z4 for an SLK 280 for my Wifes Xmas pressy. Now I know she likes Tellur silver (the bluey tint) and she also likes light interiors. However, the Merc catalouge states that Tellur silver and apacaha grey leather are not recommended. I want to keep it a surprise but my concern is getting the colour combination wrong.

Anybody got such an animal in order that I can see some pics?

or any other comments on this colour combination?

I may have to fall back onto straight black leather which is what it is in the Z4 but she isn't keen on.

Also, on the SLK is it preferable to have manual or the 7G auto?

Cheers

Steve

Cant help with colour but... Auto all the way esp if you dont want to be hammered at selling time.

I have the normal, Iridium Silver, and black leather. I was tempted to go for the Alpaca but was only put off by the possibility of the lightness of the colour becoming too much of a pain to keep clean etc. That colour though, Alapaca, is the only light shade available I think, unless you go Designo!!!!

Sadly, tastes and trade ins dictate that auto is the name of the game it would appear but, the 7g is very very much fun and I like it, specially in 'M' manual.

Piccie of silver, (Iridium), avec Alpaca. Notice bits of the dash get the Alpaca treatment!, in the flesh that combination looks quite dramatic in all honesty.

Portzy.

EDIT: Thats not me in the piccie btw!, it was my valet who delivered, to the rear of the North Wing, that particular car for my perusal one afternoon last summer!!!!. As if! (roll eyes!).

I have seen just ONE '171 SLK in the really dark blue paint and it looks great. All credit to whoever chose that!

I think it's listed as:

Special metallic
Benitoite blue (950)

Now that would look great with grey leather.

I hope that my wife never reads this thread. The odd box of chocolates at Christmas would never seem the same again. :)

my mrs chose the manual - as its a lease car the resale was not our issue - box is fine. Her auto choice was the 5sp on the 200K. I have 7G and would choose that from a personal perspective.

Mrs D had the ML for her birthday, and fortunately she didn't ask for another car last birthday!! Probably got away with perfume and clothes!!

She has her eye on a GL now though - and it's our anniversary on Friday - so I'm steering clear of dealers until after the weekend!! ;)

Steve, go for the Tellur and the alpaca, my wife has it on her SL although I have noticed on the SLK that the trim combination is slightly different, Dark Wheel etc.
