Potential Gearbox Problem?

Hi all,

Started my car this morning and after letting it warm up proceeded to drive to the shops.

My gear lever did not feel at all how it should when selecting ANY gear, when I engage a gear it is not as smooth as it should be and no spring back to neutral position or very feint springback at times, the car does drive fine and when changing gears it just feels harder to engage the gear and the lack of it springing back to neutral when deselecting a grear is very weird as its something ive grown accustom to on mercs.

I dont know if im right or wrong but either its all of a sudden low on oil and its lost it slickness, do these gearboxes have a synchro meshing that could have deteriorated or am I looking at the start of something major?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

My c23o k on a 99 plate is the same very notchy gears hard to get in a high revs , feels very unlike a Merc basuically , i did have a leaky slave cylinder which i replaced , its had its gear oil changed and is still the same , i have just heard today that my car has a twin plate flywheel and this maybe the problem i got a quote for a clutch plate supply only was over £200.00 . i will keep watching your post incase anyone has a solution .
