Potentially buying an E55

It is. To me. I go up to collect it on Thursday. Pics will follow once it's cleaned up (once I work out how to post pics on here...)

I haven't seen it in the metal yet, mind. I hope I have truly done well, and not been truly well done...

I can't get too excited, though, because my current one is a good 'un, so it should drive exactly the same as that.

Oh, all right, then :bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana: :bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana:

Well done... Excellent upgrade :D

Expensive too, for something that drives exactly the same... But hey! it's only money.

Thanks gents. Now to see what can be done about that wood! It's the only thing I positively dislike about the car; an acquired taste that I have yet to acquire. Perhaps it's not too obtrusive in the flesh; if it is, perhaps a car trimmer could apply an upmarket version of 'carbon fibre' Fablon to cover it up. I don't suppose anyone has, or knows of, a pristine full set of the standard black walnut going cheap?

Thinks: or perhaps I could find a part-wood steering wheel in the same wood? There are a few steering wheel covers on eBay that might do the job; mmmmmm, chavtastic... very Barry...

How can you tell it's an 805 build? The top of the dash isn't visible in any of the photos I've seen, and I didn't know there were any other indicators in the part of the dash I have seen.

Thank you. I'll look for that trim set too.

No cold air bleeding dial in between the centre vents, phased out on the 805 build.

It's a pointless dial I find... Never use it.

B****y Hell! Well spotted that man! I can't make that out in any of the pics I've seen, and I didn't know about it anyway. Thank you.

I don't think you can see that upper dash in any of the pics, are there more out there?
The transmission tunnel cubby is the split option whereas 805 seem to have the roller one from the pics I've seen.

ETA - scrap that, just found an 805 with the split cubby.

It will be interesting to see when it arrives!

No other pictures.

Look harder hehe... I could only just see it, enough for me to spot it though.

That is from be the shot through the driver's door on the dealer's website, I take it. His pics are bigger than on eBay, but I STILL can't make it out, try though I might - and have. Time for new specs...

804 Build apparently suffer with electrical gremlins and some with rust, 805's i believe are galv and dont suffer with either. 804's have a slatted grille in the top of the dash 805's are a mesh grille.

My s211 e320 cdi is a 804 and hasn't got any electrical nor rust issues anywhere. i may of course miss understood the differences and stand corrected if anyone knows different.

I know of one 805 E55K with a rusty door!

It's only "cold galvanising" which is not really proper galvanising anyway.

I'll post a fuller report in due course, and pictures, but it IS an 805 (well spotted), and in original condition - including some surface rust around the rear wheel arches, mainly the LHS.

"Cold galvanising" = painted.

"Cold galvanising" = painted.

Yes, exactly.

It just rusts from the inside out instead.
