Hi,

I have a power washer, but never turned it to my Merc. However, I wondered if anyone has an opinion on using this method of cleaning?

Any Thoughts?

Not to good really as far as I’m concerned. Mine leaves stripes in the dirt on the bodywork requiring a sponge to get clean, but is powerful enough to remove paint from the wheel centres! Great for under the car & wheel arches though.

I think they are too harsh if you have good paintwork, essentially you will lift off dirt then sort of 'shot blast' it along the body work.

I bought one about 2 Years ago, and the first time i used it on my last car (w202) I was attempting to get a tar spot off when I blew a small piece of paint off the front wing about 8mm.

I was virtually touching the car with the lance....so it was my fault...but i just did not realise the washer was capable of that.
I was slightly vexed  and never used the washer on the car again.
I would think it would be ok on wheels and blasting from a distance, but water can contain grit and other debris so be warned.

Hmm,

Thanks for that, I'll pass. Out with the old Sponge BoB then. :bannana:

Thanks

I've used mine just about every weekend for the past 5 years on cars and wouldn't be without it. Makes cleaning the car so much easier, especially the wheels.

I did have one problem with the Merc when it was only a couple of months old that the crome trim pealed came off, MB sorted it out.

I only use my pressure washer on the wheels, suspension, under the wheel arches and under the floor. On the bodywork, never. Seen results of paint removal by pressure washer

Never had a problem in years. It would only have a problem if paint was already peeling or scabby.

You've seen the shed then :D

A small piece of advice- bin the sponge and use a sheepskin mitt. If you have a dark coloured car, all you are doing is marking the paint.
