I'm swapping seat bases. Anyone have any handy tips on making the electric seat move by using an external battery and two wires?

..i should state the seat is out of the car and need to move it back so i can gain access to some bolts holding the seat cushions to the seat bases!

Thanks for that, both docs are for the right seat but similar logic probably applies.

I'm thinking that touching positive and negative wires to the back/forward motor should move the seat and then reverse the polarities depending which direction it moves...

Aren't your seats fixed to the base with bolts lower front and two bolts on rear sides ?

You can see the factory fixing points which I used to attached my Recaro adapters. The six bolts were accessible on my seats without having to move the seat.

Spot on; I think I even contacted the wrong pins a few times, but didn't blow anything up. Quite robust, but I only use a little 24A 12v golf cart battery for these kind of tricks. The seat needs to have the headrest out and the backrest full forward to minimise the space it all takes up to facilitate removal.

Hi Ed, it's the two bolts you see at the top corners..

looking at my seat set up, these bolts are connected to the seat cushion frame and the guide rail is in the flippin way so i cant get access or enough 'purchase' on the bolt to undo.

Even using a 'wobbly' bit at the end of the ratchet doesn't work as there is not enough room between seat and rail.

Hey Billy

I think I used a box or open end wrench to get the front bolts out...don't remember the position of the rail...it is a tight fit
