Preparing cars for sale.

Some dealers are pushing Sale or Return now too. Less risk for them.

yep i use autotrader to value part ex cars... i find ebay hard to use, too much junk polluting the site..

Are people no longer using Autotrader?
I had always thought that to me the first port of call when buying/selling cars?

I personally think Autotrader advertisements are too expensive. Happy to use it to search for cars to buy, but not to sell.

Auto Trader is expensive.. even for dealers.. I pay into four figures every month... but they have you by the short n curlies as its also the site that sells most cars.

I was trying to sell my Ducati recently on bike trader and all I got was over a dozen scam calls from agencies who have a list of a million people who want just my bike, and for 99 quid they will put them in touch blah blah - you all know the drill. This was despite subscribing to their secure number service which is supposed to weed this lot out.

I only use the trader as a guide, but even then, prices these days follow no pattern. It is just what someone will pay on the day, just like property.

Auto Trader has turned into the biggest pain in the ass for me - am constantly getting 'Nigeria scam' e-mails. Am so sick to death of it! Last one I e-mailed back and told them to stick their offer up their ar*e!!! lol.

No, it wasn't a genuine enquiry either!!!

most dealers will offer just below glass's trade value... just below is £9K... £6750 is taking the michael..

used prices are going back up.. auctions are ram packed with dealers trying to replenish stock... i havent managed to buy anything much for a couple of weeks...

Do you go to Measham at all - not that far from you? I tend to go once a fornight (nextdoor neighbour works there) and I would agree it's rammed with traders but the prices are still not really picking up much. What is selling like hot cakes, and obviously commanding high prices are the small 1.4 litre or less cars, 106's, C1's, Fiestas etc. These seem way overpriced at the moment but anything bigger seems to be going for a song.

Just don't get the current market at all.

Dom

PS - evidence of a screwed up market here -----what's that all about then ??

yeah i advertised my 7 series on Autotrader. ALL i got was scammers emailing me or canvassers phoning.

i go on the basis, most people looking for a car will look on both autotrader and ebay - probably ebay is now a better option - better advert space with space for detail and lots of pics.

i didnt bother with autotrader when i sold my E300D - just went on ebay and it sold within 3 days of listing it, then i just ended the auction early saying its no longer available for sale.

yes i do, just this minute got back... but compared to november/december prices, they are going up rapidly.. I paid £1K over glass's today for a CLK cabrio and there was lots of competition.

Jay - why not buy a nice E500 and then you can PX Tan's A4 cab! :D

Everyone's Happy
