Hello and happy xmas to everyone.

My car has developed a problem recently and it is as follows.

When I am driving and then try to accelerate the car sometimes just fails to respond like a throttle blip and ricks your neck and like someone has turned off the ignition , if you take foot off pedal the try to accelerate again it does it again this happens about 3 times them it will kick in and all ok. This problem is not every time and happens when hot or cold.

Also sometimes when I'm cruising at say 70mph the ESP light will just start to flash constantly and if I press throttle no power just like if your wheels are trying to spin. If I drop down a gear then all ok or if I release all throttle and the reapply it clears and drives ok.

Not sure if these two problems linked but I would imagine they are. I have put car on a basic fault reader and no faults.

Does anyone have any idea before I spend money on a star dianostic check.

Thanks

Could be your MAF.

The esp could be a number of things. Probably a wheel sensor on the way out.

Get it plugged in.

Thanks But no maf on my car.

will have to try and get it on star but don't know anyone in Leicester other than MB with a star machine

With an ESP problem it's usually worth checking the reluctor rings for corrosion - they tend to corrode and split which throws the tooth spacing. Rears are the more prone and easier checked. (Reluctor rings for those unfamiliar with the term are the toothed wheels on the end of each driveshaft).

The fault codes need to be checked firstly.
