I keep seeing rear number plates with a purple tint to them on new cars like MAFF's new motor:

Whats the story behind this? is it simply coloured plastic?

I see the same and wondered if it's speed camera reflection spray?

Only ever on new cars though

No - I've seen it on all diff cars up here.

Protective film not removed.

Nah its not I dont think, ive looked at them up close.

The protective film is normally a darker-redder colour

Yeah and it's also mostly opaque!

I think you will find it's a protective film that hasn't been removed.

There are some with a blue tint too.

It is protective film.

The purple tint the anti reflection spray for escaping speed cameras. i was tempted to buy a can at the ideal home show but when i look at the two demo numbler plates it was very obvious with the purply laquer look
