I'm looking for some information from someone in the trade.
What information regarding part-exchange values does the Glasses Guide give.I do not want any specific details just general information.

Given the make, model and year, does it just give one price or does it give say good, average and poor prices?

My reason for asking is that I think my 75 year old aunt is being taken advantage of by a dealer (not Mercedes) where she is wanting to buy a new small car.

thanks in advance.

A car dealer taking advantage of a 75 year old lady?

Sounds about par for the course.

Are you REALLY surprised?

just gives a trade price based on trim level and mileage... the dealer then has to take into consideration condition, history etc etc...
You will rarely get above glass's trade for a car in average condition.

If you need any values just post the details... or pm me..

Also remember the second hand market values are vicious at the moment.

I can imagine the shock on a customers face when Jay gives someone a realistic market value on their vehicle.

I have been looking for a replacement for the last few weeks since the SL was hit, and despite a lot of experience with the motor trade even I was shocked at how much car you can get for so little money given the current economic climate.

I do often worry about the state of my front teeth when im 40...

A lot have already done their research or been to other dealers.. if im the first they have asked they often think im taking the michael...

My dad's recently been looking to replace his Honda Jazz and the trade in offers have been £8-8.5k. He then went to our local Honda dealer who offered him £6k and then seemed surprised at my dad's reaction. I should say my dad is in the trade and so he's fully aware of values.

I suspect a misunderstanding of how the market works there.

How old, which model, and what mileage is the Jazz? Considering the typical Jazz 1.4SE is only about £10,500 new then p/x values of £8-8.5K seem remarkable.

It's likely the p/x value was boosted on the other cars by discounts - even cars like Yaris can be had with up to £2K off. Honda generally don't discount Jazz very much at all, although they are starting to offer deals as the current model comes to the end of its life.
