I was on your site looking for oil for my Merc (2000 E320cdi) and it came up with Car Lube Triple R 5w40 Diesel @ £35.59

I done a google (but left the Diesel part off) to check the specification and near the top of the page was a link to you for the Carlube Triple R 5w40 oil @ £26.99

Both meet MB229.31, but the cheaper one was never able to select if I put my reg in, only if I done a search for 5w40

Is there a reason for this ??

cheers
Mark

They are not the same oil. Carlube triple R 5W40 fully synthetic at £26-99 does not meet ACEA C3 which is the standard for low ash oil for cars with a DPF so is 229.3 not 229.31 The more expensive Diesel Oil also meets VW501.01 [PD] which is a very stringent standard to meet the very high camshaft sheer loadings of the PD injectors on this VAG engine.

Thanks, but I was using my car a reference which does not have a DPF. so I see no reason why I can't use either ?

Using your reg, the site will ONLY recomend oils which are approved for your car, by the oil manufacturer.

If you select 'accessories' you can then browse the oils by grade! :)

Hope that helps

Not looking at splitting hairs, but isn't my car's oil requirement MB229.1 ? Therefore would it be an idea to offer an upgraded range of oils that a customer could also choose from ? (similar to Opie Oils)

I am not an unhappy customer, as you will see in my other posting :thumb:

Firstly thanks for your feedback! :thumb:

With regards the oil - We normally offer 2 types from each brand - their 'standard' and their performance. (ie Castrol Magnatec & Castrol Edge)

However this data is supplied by the oil manufacturer, therefore there may be some gaps, and for safety reasons we can only recomend those cataloged.

You can always search oils by grade in the accessory section!
