As the title.........

1. Is the scale of the map determined to any extent by road speed? I prefer to have it on large scale- say 0.1 mile, but after a few seconds it goes out to 1.6, or even 2.5 miles.

Can I alter this?

2. What is the symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen, looks like a corkscrew, with a number, typically 8 or 9?

Thanks

Malcolm

2. Must be the number of satellites it is picking up.

Not sure on the first question maybe the autozoom facillity in the map settings? but the second corkscrew with 8 or 9 refers I think to the number of satellites the unit is picking up. The " corkscrew"symbol depicts a satellite with 2 solar panels beaming down a signal to earth

Think I've found the answer! Mine does seem to be speed or manoeuvre sensitive. This morning, doing 60+ on a dual c-way, it was out at 1.6 miles, but as I slowed down for a roundabout, almost to a stop waiting to enter it, it zoomed in to 50 yards scale, to show detail of the island.

Clever, eh?

And if it zooms out to depict a globe of the world presumably you reached orbital velocity! ;)
