Hi Folks,
I have bought a Bluetooth head unit for my 1986 300SL.
For it to work a microphone needs to be plugged into the back.
The question is how do I route the microphone wire from the dash/cockpit area to the back of the stereo?
Also would anyone be able to recommend some replacement front speakers?
Cheers, giles

Ok, I have found some replacement front speakers, Alpine SXE-1025S 4".
If anyone can help with routing of the Bluetooth microphone from fascia to rear of head unit I would be very grateful.
Cheers, Giles

I know nothing about your car, but in every other car I've installed this kind of kit into, I've installed the microphone at the top of the A pillar, using the sticky pad to stick it to the windscreen, making sure it clears the sun visors etc. then run the wire, down the A pillar and under the dash on the drivers side (There are usually plenty of wires and plastic bits you can tie wrap the wire to) and then up into the centre console behind the head unit.

The solution to getting the microphone babel back to the head unit was to tape it to the fascia speaker wire and pull it through with an additional wire tapedon so you could pull the speaker wire back again.
Mounted top of a-post but sticky pad on a-post trim.
Looks very neat.
The Alpine head unit was a bargain from Halfords, it doesn't have a cd as my phone bluetooths my music across, great solution, no more cd cases in the car!
Cheers, Giles

I did a similar upgrade with a Pure head unit and those Alpine speakers. The speakers are ok but the bass sound cannot be great as the back of them is open into the dash area. I did not want to cut holes in the back of the car for bigger speakers but I did find a Kenwood subwoofer which is only 70 mm deep and can just be fitted under the passenger seat. However if the seat is in its lowest position, the seat adjuster bar which curves down fouled on it. The solution was a bit complex, I took the seat out, cut the bar and rotated it then welded it back up. Now I have great bass too.
