Trying to order a new set of spring plates to service my brakes, only to be told that there are none left in Germany, and no idea if/when they will have more.

There are 2 different types available:

A0004213991 - These ones are still freely available from MB, and can also be had from half a dozen aftermarket manufacturers (Pagid, TRW, Mintex etc) as part of a kit with pins.

A0004215691 - These are the ones that I need (to suit the 320mm discs), as you can see the pad ramps are considerably lower. I've yet to find anyone apart from MB who can supply these.

Obviously this causes a not insignificant problem when your existing ones are dying and you need replacements. I'm going to see if I can modify the ramps on the top ones to ease them; if you fit them as they are it puts them under a lot of strain, more than seems appropriate compared to the existing setup.

Does the collective wisdom have any leads on suppliers for the 2nd ones? Over the past couple of years 129 parts seem to be getting more scarce, consumables that were once held in stock are now only available special order from the Fatherland.

At this rate I'll have to start considering a conversion to the Silver Arrow setup, or fitting a set of Brembo F50s. :(

"Estimated DELIVERY TIME is dependent on the availability of products from the manufacturer and is usually within Germany 2 - 7 working days after confirmation of receipt of payment. When manufacturers are no longer available or not items we can not deliver."

That makes it sound like they have a price list, but no knowledge of stock levels.

I think a call to Classic Parts in Poole and Stuttgart might be in order on Monday.

Have you tried Euro? Most likely sold as part of the pad fitting kit.. Can check when I'm at work tomorrow if you want.

They only list for the later Brembos, it seems?

There's a possibility that MB Germany have just run down stock rather than being properly NLA...at least I'm hoping that's the case.

So, for all that the systems were just showing one available, a pair of spring plates have just arrived at the dealers. :dk:
