R129 folding roof problems

Went to fold the roof on my '96 Sl280 and it stopped halfway for no apparent reason. Passenger window dropped into door and would not come back up using normal switches. Manually locked roof to windscreen but could not lock rear or get window to move. took out ignition key, got out of car, shut door. Got back in, key back in, roof switch now locked back of roof into car and window came back up using switch. Haven't tried using again!! Any one else had similar problems??

This happened to my wife whilst driving my 2001 CLK. Whole roof mechanism stopped midway through opening. Manually got it closed but had to have the motors reset at dealers. Cost £124......but independant will be much cheaper. Dealer reckoned it stopped because tried opening roof too close to an obstruction at rear of car that parking sensors picked up!!!
