R129 SL60 AMG 17" Split Rims

Ive spoken to the guy who owns this car, zack. He said he had to shave the centres a little, 1cm on the front and 6mm on the rears to get the 8.5" and 10" wheels on the w124

He milled off 1 cm ? surely thats going to weaken the wheel considerably ...?

the centres can't be more than 25 mm thick to begin with , to lose 10mm of that

I put the wheels on the car today, to measure up how much "correction" was required, and Im seriously having my doubts now. Expect a new thread in the wheel section

Great looking wheels and they sure look great on the car.

Standard AMG fit on a pre 1995 SL. These wheels also fit the W126 series.

And the auction is finito :(

Beautiful wheels. Sob sob :( :D

They would only have suited the 126 SEC i think.

Andrew - many thanks for that :) :D

When you told me they are back up for sale, I wasn't sure where to look, but eventually I found the thread (I still can't get the hang of the 'subscribe' feature - why can't it subscribe for me automatically?)

:)

EDIT - will these fit a W126 though....that's what I am wondering. I was under the impression that SL's and W126's have different fitments??????????????

these will fit a w126, but be warned the wheels have been split to be refurbed and not been put together using the correct bolts. If they didnt do something you can see properly I doubt they will have sealed them correctly either, not the mention the correct torque setting. Nice wheels, but Id avoid these.

Thanks for the heads up Aka$h :D :)

They look really good, but now I have my doubts. The car is used daily so the last thing I'd want is for the rims to start 'leaking' and the fact that they have been put back together may mean that they are not perfect I guess.

Guess I will keep looking. No big deal :)
