Hi all!

I have imported 600SL from Japan to Finland and it has xenon headlight fitted for lefthand drive market (Japan, UK etc). I love those lights and they are in excellent condition but unfortunately I have to sell them because I cannot pass MOT with those lights in Finland due to rightlane traffic.

Please find the European requirements for the headlights in the attached file.

You can send me an SMS or respond to this thread if you are interested.

We have right hand drive cars here, not left hand ones, same as Japan. We call it the correct side. :-)

I suggest ebay will be your best bet as we dont generally allow people to register purely to sell stuff on here hence why you couldnt post in the classifieds section.

Hi Sp!ke, you are right. Right hand drive, left lane traffic? (I used my British wife for translation and obviously it went wrong :)) I tried to post ebay but somehow it has been a nightmare to register international selling from Finland in ebay.co.uk. I just want to make a favor and offer good opportunity for someone to buy really nice xenons with very reasonable price. My apologies if I have misused the purpose of the forum.

BR,
Matti

PS. I still try to register myself to Ebay and sell those lights there.

Hmmm...tempting. Very tempting.

But to be honest the stock 129 lights aren't bad at all with some decent bulbs in.

I thought to be fully legal you need some extra sensors to tell the headlights the pitch of the car so the lights can self level?

Before you sell them just make sure they are not the type that can easily be changed from LHD to RHD dip for continental motoring, just a thought.

I think so, yes.

My car has ADS though so the levelling in the light units would presumably need to be disabled.

The regulations surrounding HIDs seem to be ever greyer. Taken from the latest copy of the MoT test manual.

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system. Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.

Given the above, and the copious use of the words "may", it seems to be back to a case of "Do they work properly, and are they correctly aimed?"

Hi.

I checked Finnish regulations in MOT garage and MB's ADS is enough for the leveling and all 600SLs are equipped with ADS :)

Lens markings are decoded under the link below and unfortunately I have an "<--" arrow in my lens and it was spotted during the registration.

I have been trying to sell those lights in ebay but first I must ship them to UK because international trading is not allowed for the "ebay-beginners". :(

Xenon Headlights

Hi
Mercedes Xenon Headlights can be changed from LH to RH Drive & vice versa. Simply take the cap off the back of each lamp & move a lever up or down.
Instructions to do this should be in the owners manual.
No need to sell the lights at all.
Tony
